This three-day advanced rescue course trains wind energy professionals to execute structured rescue operations from the most demanding locations on a wind turbine. Covering hub, spinner, inside blade, nacelle, tower, and basement environments, participants develop the technical and procedural skills needed to respond effectively when a colleague requires rescue at height or in confined spaces. Both team-based and single-rescuer scenarios are addressed across all modules.

The GWO Advanced Rescue Training prepares wind energy technicians for high-stakes rescue situations that go beyond the scope of standard safety training. Operating at height and in confined turbine environments demands a structured, rehearsed approach — and this course builds exactly that capability.
Over three intensive days, participants train across two core rescue modules: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (HSIBR), and Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (NTBR). Each module is covered in both a team-based and a single-rescuer context, equipping technicians to respond whether working alone or as part of a crew. Scenarios are conducted in realistic training setups to ensure skills translate directly to the field.
Completion of this course yields four certificates in total. The HSIBR and NTBR team rescue certificates are valid for two years. The corresponding Single Rescuer certificates carry no expiry date. To enrol, participants must already hold valid GWO Working at Heights, GWO First Aid, and GWO Manual Handling certificates — confirming the baseline competence expected for this level of training.
The GWO Advanced Rescue Training is a three-day course that equips wind energy technicians with the skills to carry out rescue operations in the most complex turbine environments. It covers Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (HSIBR) and Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (NTBR), each in both a team-based and a single-rescuer format. Participants receive four GWO certificates upon successful completion.
You will receive four certificates: GWO Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (HSIBR), GWO Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (NTBR), GWO Single Rescuer: HSIBR, and GWO Single Rescuer: NTBR. The HSIBR and NTBR team rescue certificates are valid for two years. The two Single Rescuer certificates do not carry an expiry date.
To attend the GWO Advanced Rescue Training, you must hold valid certificates for GWO Working at Heights, GWO First Aid, and GWO Manual Handling. These prerequisites ensure that all participants share the foundational safety competencies required for advanced rescue scenarios.
The GWO HSIBR and NTBR team rescue certificates are each valid for two years from the date of issue. The GWO Single Rescuer certificates for both HSIBR and NTBR have no expiry date and do not need to be renewed.
