About GWO Advanced Rescue Training

The GWO Advanced Rescue Training prepares wind energy technicians for high-stakes rescue situations that go beyond the scope of standard safety training. Operating at height and in confined turbine environments demands a structured, rehearsed approach — and this course builds exactly that capability.

Over three intensive days, participants train across two core rescue modules: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (HSIBR), and Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (NTBR). Each module is covered in both a team-based and a single-rescuer context, equipping technicians to respond whether working alone or as part of a crew. Scenarios are conducted in realistic training setups to ensure skills translate directly to the field.

Completion of this course yields four certificates in total. The HSIBR and NTBR team rescue certificates are valid for two years. The corresponding Single Rescuer certificates carry no expiry date. To enrol, participants must already hold valid GWO Working at Heights, GWO First Aid, and GWO Manual Handling certificates — confirming the baseline competence expected for this level of training.

  • Covers all four GWO advanced rescue modules: HSIBR and NTBR in both team and single-rescuer formats, resulting in four certificates upon successful completion.
  • Participants must hold valid GWO Working at Heights, GWO First Aid, and GWO Manual Handling certificates before attending. HSIBR and NTBR team rescue certificates are valid for two years; Single Rescuer certificates do not expire.
