The GWO Working at Height Refresher (Blended) is designed for wind energy technicians and service personnel who need to renew their certification while minimising time away from the field. The blended format allows you to complete the theoretical component online at your own pace before attending the one-day practical session in Rotterdam.
During the practical day, trainers guide participants through real-world scenarios involving personal fall protection, anchor point usage, ladder safety, and the correct deployment of evacuation equipment. Rescue techniques are practised in a controlled environment to ensure participants can respond effectively when a colleague is incapacitated at height. Emphasis is placed on procedural discipline and decision-making under pressure.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a renewed GWO Working at Height certificate that is valid for two years. This certification meets the Global Wind Organisation standard and is widely recognised by wind farm operators and service contractors throughout the industry.
The GWO Working at Height Refresher (Blended) is a renewal training for wind energy professionals that combines online e-learning with a one-day practical session. It covers the key topics required under the Global Wind Organisation standard, including fall protection, risk assessment, rescue procedures, and the safe use of evacuation equipment in wind turbines.
This course is intended for technicians, service engineers, and other wind industry personnel who currently hold a valid or recently expired GWO Working at Height certificate and need to renew it. Participants who do not yet hold the initial GWO Working at Height certification must complete the full foundational course first.
The blended format consists of two parts. The first is an online e-learning module that you complete independently before the training day. This covers theoretical subjects such as relevant legislation, hazard recognition, and risk control measures. The second part is a full practical training day at the training facility, where you apply these principles through hands-on exercises.
You must hold a valid GWO Working at Height certificate to enrol in this refresher. If your certificate has already expired, please contact QPO to confirm whether you are still eligible for the refresher or whether you need to retake the full course.
The GWO Working at Height certificate issued upon completion of this refresher is valid for two years from the date of issue. To maintain your certification beyond that period, you will need to complete another refresher before the expiry date.
The practical day covers the safe use of anchor points, harnesses, and ladders, inspection of personal fall protection equipment, the operation of evacuation and descender devices, and rescue techniques for responding to an incapacitated colleague at height. All exercises are conducted in a safe, supervised training environment.
