The GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore Refresher (Blended) is designed for wind energy professionals who need to renew their GWO certifications without spending more time away from work than necessary. By completing the theoretical component through online e-learning before attending the practical sessions, you save half a day compared to the standard classroom-based refresher.
The practical training takes place over two days at the training facility. During these sessions, you will refresh your competencies across all four GWO modules: First Aid, Working at Height, Fire Awareness, and Manual Handling. Exercises are conducted in realistic onshore wind energy scenarios, reinforcing the skills needed to work safely at turbine sites.
Upon successful completion, you receive four separate GWO refresher certificates, each valid for two years. These certificates are recognised across the global wind energy industry and are required by most onshore wind operators and contractors.
The GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore Refresher (Blended) is a renewal course for onshore wind energy workers who already hold valid GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore certificates. It consists of online e-learning followed by two days of practical training. The programme covers First Aid, Working at Height, Fire Awareness, and Manual Handling, and results in four refresher certificates valid for two years.
In the blended format, you complete the theoretical portion of each module online before attending the practical training. This allows the on-site programme to be condensed to two days instead of two and a half, saving you half a day without reducing the quality or scope of the training. The practical content and certification outcomes are identical to those of the classroom-only refresher.
You must hold valid GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore certificates covering all four modules: First Aid, Working at Height, Fire Awareness, and Manual Handling. Your existing certificates must still be current at the time you start the refresher. If one or more certificates have already expired, please contact QPO to discuss the most appropriate training route.
Each of the four GWO refresher certificates is valid for two years from the date of issue. To maintain uninterrupted certification, it is recommended to plan your next refresher before the expiry date. Letting certificates lapse may require you to complete the full initial GWO Basic Safety Training again.
The two-day practical training is held at the training facility, located at Brielselaan 85, 3081 AB. The facility is equipped with dedicated safety training areas suitable for realistic onshore wind energy scenarios. The online e-learning can be completed from any location prior to attending the practical days.
