The GWO Enhanced First Aid Refresher course is designed for wind industry technicians and professionals who have previously completed the full three-day GWO Enhanced First Aid training and need to renew their certification. By renewing every two years, participants ensure that their emergency response knowledge and practical skills remain sharp and up to date.
Over two intensive days, participants revisit the full spectrum of enhanced first aid competencies. This includes using an automated external defibrillator, managing casualties in life-threatening situations, identifying symptoms that indicate serious or minor medical conditions, and applying a working knowledge of human anatomy. The course also covers how to coordinate a medical incident on site, communicate with emergency services, and administer basic pain management and medication where appropriate.
A central feature of the refresher is scenario-based training, in which participants respond to realistic emergency situations that reflect the conditions encountered in the wind energy industry. Upon successful completion, both the GWO Enhanced First Aid and GWO First Aid certificates are renewed, each valid for a further two years.

It is the appropriate recertification route for those whose enhanced qualification is approaching its expiry date.
You must hold a valid GWO First Aid or GWO First Aid Refresher certificate. In addition, since April 1, 2023, you must have completed the three-day initial GWO Enhanced First Aid training before you can enrol in this refresher. Both conditions must be met at the time of registration.
Both the GWO Enhanced First Aid and the GWO First Aid certificates are valid for two years from the date of issue. You will need to complete another refresher before they expire to maintain your qualifications without interruption.

No, this course does not include an e-learning component. All training takes place in person at the training facility, combining classroom instruction with hands-on scenario exercises.
