The GWO Sea Survival Refresher (Blended) is designed for offshore wind professionals who need to renew their sea survival certification efficiently. By splitting the course into an online e-learning module and a concentrated four-hour practical session, this format minimises time away from work while ensuring all essential competencies are thoroughly refreshed.
The e-learning component covers the theoretical foundations of sea survival, allowing participants to prepare at their own pace before attending the practical session in Rotterdam. During the afternoon on-site, you will practise boarding and disembarking, man-overboard response scenarios integrating search and rescue (SAR), GMDSS communication, and first aid, as well as hands-on familiarisation with life-saving appliances and personal protective equipment.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a renewed GWO Sea Survival certificate valid for two years. This training is conducted in English and is accredited under the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training framework, meeting the offshore wind industry’s international safety standards.
The GWO Sea Survival Refresher (Blended) is a renewal course for offshore wind professionals who already hold a valid GWO Sea Survival certificate. It combines self-paced online e-learning with a four-hour practical session held in Rotterdam. The course refreshes key competencies including sea survival techniques, man-overboard procedures, evacuation, and the use of life-saving and personal protective equipment.
Any offshore wind professional whose GWO Sea Survival certificate is approaching its two-year expiry date must complete a refresher course to maintain their certification. The blended format is suitable for those looking to recertify efficiently without attending a full multi-day course.
You must hold a valid GWO Sea Survival certificate to attend this refresher. Since April 2023, a valid GWO Working at Height certificate is also required. Please ensure both certificates are current before enrolling.
The blended course consists of two parts. First, you complete an online e-learning module covering the theoretical aspects of sea survival at a time and place that suits you. You then attend a half-day practical session at the training centre in Rotterdam, where you apply and practise the skills covered in the e-learning.
The certificate issued upon completion of this refresher is valid for two years. To avoid a lapse in certification, it is recommended to schedule your refresher training before your current certificate expires.
