About GWO Working at Height Refresher

The GWO Working at Height Refresher is designed for wind energy technicians who hold a current GWO Working at Height certificate and need to renew their qualification before it expires. Working at elevation inside and outside wind turbines carries significant risks, and this course ensures that your skills and knowledge remain up to date with the latest safety standards.

The programme follows the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training framework and is structured as a blended learning experience. You will complete the theoretical component online at your own pace before attending a full day of practical training at the training facility. On-site exercises focus on hands-on skills including the correct use of anchor points, the safe operation of ladders, and the handling of evacuation devices. A key element of the day is practising rescue techniques so that you are prepared to assist a colleague in the event of an incident at height.

Upon successful completion, your GWO Working at Height certificate is renewed for a further two years. This refresher meets GWO BST standard requirements and is recognised across the wind energy industry internationally.

  • Covers legislation, risk assessment, fall protection equipment, anchor point use, ladder safety, evacuation systems, and colleague rescue — all within a single intensive day of blended learning.
  • Successful participants receive a renewed GWO Working at Height certificate valid for two years, meeting GWO BST standard requirements and accepted by wind farm operators worldwide.
